Travelling to Sitia, Lassithi Crete

You can travel by ferry from the port of Piraeus to Heraklion or Sitia. Please note that there are regular trips to Heraklion all year round while ferries to Sitia depart twice a week in summertime. In order to arrive to Bellevue Apartments from Sitia or Heraklion port you may drive, take the bus or a taxi.

Sitia Crete Beaches – Lassithi Beaches
The Lassithi prefecture is well-known for its wonderful beaches. During your stay at the Bellevue Apartments Hotel in Petras, Sitia Crete you can go to the beautiful beach located just 200 m from the hotel that stretches all the way to Sitia Town.

The nearby beaches of Kouremenos and Chiona are ideal for families with small children and have a fine selection of tavernas that serve delicious fresh fish. Kouremenos Beach is also good for windsurfing. Itanos Beach has soft sand and is ideal for snorkeling. The Palm Tree Beach in Vai, the only one of its kind in Europe, is a very popular beach due to its great beauty and the palm trees that offer shade from the sun.

Other Sitia Lassithi Beaches are Kato Zakros, Makrygialos, Xerokampos (with small bays with turquoise waters and argil for skin treatments). From Makrygialos you can take a tour boat to the isles of Chryssi and Koufonissi, which both have sandy beaches and azure waters, a truly exotic-like setting.

Local Cuisine of Crete
While in Sitia, visitors should try the local delicacies served at the many tavernas, restaurants and ouzeries in the area, such as dakos (Cretan barley rusks with chopped tomato and feta cheese, soaked in olive oil and a little water), baked eggplant, chochlious with rice (traditionally cooked escargot), fresh seafood, parsley salad, raisin pie, kaltsounia (sweet cheese pastries) and the potent alcoholic drink “raki”. Sitia offers a wide variety of clubs and bars that stay open till late.
